alpines steinschaf

The sheep breed "Alpines Steinschaf" is one of the oldest sheep breeds and also the kind of sheep that is native to the Alp area. Today, the "Alpines Steinschaf" is threatened by extinction.

In Ramsau, this breed is being bred in the sheep farm Wimbachlehen. The farm is one of only four "Alpines Steinschaf"-sheep farms in Bavaria. Also a farm shop is run there, where different kinds of (sheep-)wool, its products, furs and much more can be found.
