Laufen Town

Laufen TownThe historic town Laufen is part of the Berchtesgaden area. Here began the transportation of "white gold" in the 9th century along Salzach and Saalach rivers, which broght the city wealth and prestige. The filigree border-spaning-bridge between Laufen and Oberndorf links Germany to Austria, it was built in 1902/1903 in the Art Nouveau style and is under state protection.
The old town hall of Laufen was built in the 15th century and still retains a magnificent Gothic arch on the first. On the 2nd floor – renovated "Alter Rathaussaal (town hall) in Baroque style.
